On May 3, 2008, at Linkou Stadium in Taoyuan, Taiwan, I presided a Kalachakra Ceremony. About 30,000 people attended the ceremony.
Not long after, in mid-June, a strong tropical storm named Fengshen developed near the Philippines.
According to the weather bureau, Fengshen had rapidly intensified from a minor tropical depression into a mild tropical cyclone, and later it developed into a severe tropical storm. It was heading towards the Taiwan Strait from Luzon Island in the Philippines. Soon the western part of Taiwan, including south and north Taiwan, would be completely under its power.
I started hearing comments:
"Fengshen did not give respect to Grand Master, for it formed just one month after the ceremony."
"The Kalachakra ceremony was not powerful. It could not even prevent a strong tropical storm from coming."
"Fengshen is a trouble-maker."
"Fengshen caused so many casualties and damages. It completely bulldozed Luzon Island when it swept past it."
"Fengshen will dominate Taiwan."
●
I was feeling a little despondent.
The Kalachakra ceremony was potent and powerful. Why was there a hurricane just one month after the ceremony? What could I do to save the place where I grew up? I consulted the "Divine Book" with my mind's eye and saw two characters, "Wind Sky."
I flew out of my physical body and advanced towards the northwest direction, chanting the name of "Wind Sky":
"Vayave! Vayave! Vayave!"
I then saw Wind-Sky God.
One of five Western celestial gods, Wind-Sky God has a red-black body and is very tall. His right hand holds a staff, while his left hand rests on his waist. Flags flutter around him.
I asked: "Is Typhoon Fengshen heading for Taiwan?"
Wind-Sky God replied, "Yes."
I asked again, "Can it be averted?"
"No."
"So you are not giving my ceremony any respect?"
Wind-Sky God answered, "All natural disasters, including earthquakes, thunders, storms, floods and even volcanic eruptions, are carried out under the orders of Sakra, which can not be disobeyed."
I said, "But I have mandate of the Buddha, Golden Mother of the Primodial Pond and the eminent Sanshan Jiuhou. Is that not enough?"
Astounded by what I said, Wind-Sky God then secretly told me, "Please perform a Wind-Sky ritual and the problem will be solved."
I placed a lit candle at the "Ha" seed syllable in the southwest corner of the mandala, performed the ritual and then blew out the flame.
Strangely enough, Fengshen soon weakened into a tropical depression after hitting Luzon Island. It then dissipated.
Here's a poem (for the incident):
Fengshen is like a vicious woman,
Whereas I am a teacher of Man and Heavens,
By the higher mandate of immense urgency,
Fengshen's eye is blown away.
